This is easily one of the most common questions I get!
My biggest piece of advice is to wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident while still reflecting your profession and personality.
For most professional headshots, I recommend choosing clothing that fits well, complements your skin tone, and doesn't distract from your face.
Solid colors are usually a great option, and simple, timeless pieces tend to photograph beautifully.
That doesn't mean everyone needs to show up wearing a black blazer!
If you work in a more creative or casual industry, your clothing can absolutely reflect that. The goal is to look like a polished version of yourself, not someone completely different.
And if you wear glasses every day, feel free to wear them for your headshots! They're part of how people recognize you.

There's no one-size-fits-all answer, but I generally recommend updating your professional headshot whenever your appearance or professional role changes significantly.
